Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character on ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Originally from Worthington Ohio she quit high school and moved into Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. Though she struggled financially, her 2001 debut was as Rachel's Room's principal character. She went on to earn an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder set in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford, a character she played in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was keen to pursue film following her role as Tom Welling's character in The Fog, in 2005. The following year, she starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well as, alongside Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. In 2008, she played the same role in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both 2012). Grace was back on the Lost series in the final two episodes playing Shannon. The year 2013 saw Grace appear in the episode Californianation of the 6th season. She portrays Faith as a fan and muse of the stars. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. She is part of the Gyllenhaal family and is the younger sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens, she began to work as a small part-time actress for her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko along with her twin brother. Then she appeared on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win an Golden Globe Award in both the action drama Sherrybaby (2005) as well as the romance comedy Secretary (2002). Both films were critically acclaimed. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008 after numerous highly successful films, including World Trade Center (2006) and World Trade Center (2006), earned Gyllenhaal more fame. In the wake of her performance that was a hit as a single mother on the screen in Crazy Heart (2009), she earned the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012). Some of her other characters include as a secret agent for the Secret Service in White House Down 2013, singing in Frank 2014 and as a singer as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the title role. Gyllenhaal's first film as a writer and director took place in 2021, with The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama that won her an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. The film also was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
